3 things I learn't about Christmas cards was:

1.The first recorded use of 'Merry Christmas' was in a Christmas letter sent in 1534.

2.The first recorded Christmas cards were sent in 1611 by a German physician, Michael Maier, to James I of England.

3.In America, Louis Prang, a printer, produced the first commercially available Christmas cards. By 1881, more than 5 million cards were being produced every year in the U.S.

We had create a poster to tell you how many things there are in maori and put the same amount of pictures next to it. We had to put summer pictures,  by the way. Camp movie 2021

Hello Readers!

You all  and about 2 weeks after that we started to make a camp movie explaining what we did on camp.  First we had to answer some questions.  I learnt how to zoom in and out it of the pictures. Then it said now that your done, do you think this was a good way to show your presentation. I say yes because I had never tried this before and I learned new skills.   The thing I found hardest to finish was probably the plan but as I kept going on, I became easier. The next question was do you have any questions about your movie? My answer is no. To be honest what I could do better next time was follow my plan more carefully and stay on track.

Camp recount

Hey bloggers!                                                                                                                                                   Last week we went to living springs for 2 and a half days. Below is how I felt and what it was like to be away from my family for such a long time. I really enjoyed writing this and I had so much fun. Scroll down to read my story.

Camp recount

Hi, my name is Hannaneh. I am a year 5 girl at wigram primary school.

This is a recount of how I felt personally when we went to Living Springs

this year for 2 and a half days. 

DAY 1: WEDNESDAY 27 OCT 

When I climbed out of the car, about to walk into school, I realized what

I was doing here. I felt full of nerves and excitement of what was

happening, but at the same time I was thinking. What was I doing here?

Had I really made this decision myself?? I could feel millions of butterflies

fluttering in my stomach trying to fly out. Finally we dragged my suitcase

out and threw it onto the other pile of suitcases. I took a deep breath.

Ahhh. All of a sudden I heard a whistle from my teachers. Oh no. 

I knew what this meant. I gave my mum a big hug and walked inside.

Then we did the normal stuff, like the roll. After that we all went outside

and squeezed out bags into the bus and  shuffled to the back. I looked

at my baby brother, tears streaming down his cheeks crying because he

was not allowed on the bus. I pulled on a smile and waved. 

At about 10:30 we got there. To be honest we actually got to governors

bay at the bottom of the hills. We found a small area of grass,

used the bathroom and ate morning tea packed from home. After that

we had 2 guides. A woman and a man. The man's name was Joseph, and

the woman's Tenieal. Then we had to walk up the hill. It was so HOT we

had to climb the hill and it was so steep until we FINALLY got there.

We ate lunch, then we had some free time in our bunks. It was just a

small room with 2 bunks against 2 of the walls, and yay! Lucky me!

There were 4 of us so we got our OWN BUNK EACH. Cool, right? 

After that we had orienteering! I was super excited because we got to

do orienteering and I hadn't done it before! it was basically just a map

and we had to find these little signs and right down the letters my group

only got through a couple and then we had to find the word. It was: you

are made to make a difference. Then we got to do recreational games.

We got to do things like balance bikes, mini golf tire swing and flying

fox and most important of all, the zipline! I was so scared to do it so

I refused but then when people came back and said how much fun, I

realised I could not stay scared forever!! So I got into line when it was

my turn, I put on a helmet and a harness and pulled my legs up and to my

surprise, I had so much fun! Then we did other things but I liked the zipline best. 

After that we had dinner! I don’t know what it was called but it was YUM!

Then after we had ice cream for dessert, and then we had our camp

money auction! Sorry not my fault I got nothing from people with bidding

too high. Then we went to the pool and camp concert. After that we got

about 30 minutes to change, brush our teeth and free time. ( Oh and we

also got our duffy books!) 

Finally, day 1 done!!

DAY 2 THURSDAY 28TH OCT  

We got up at about 6AM because other girls in our cabin house were

going up and down the stairs, taking showers and making a racket. So

we got up, did the morning things and had breakfast. We had a choice

of 3-4 cereals and toast. Then we went and had free time. Then we went

a bit further up the hill to dons shed to do 4 rotations: Bush ecology,

inactives, bouldering, and long rope. Personally, I liked long ropes,

but initiatives and bush ecology was so much fun too! I really liked it

because we basically learnt that we can eat certain types of leaves.To be

honest I am not that much of a rock-climbing-person because my hands

and legs got kind of tired but I guess I still enjoyed it. 

We got back to living springs at about 5:00 and dinner was at 5:30 so

we got like, 30 minutes free time. We ate burgers and chips which were

YUM! After that we had camp money action and I won 2 glow sticks and

bubbles for only $55 which to be honest is a bargain then we went to

the pool, and watched sonic the hedgehog. After that we did our night stuff and went to bed.  

DAY 3 FRIDAY 29TH OCT 

Today we got up, ate breakfast and tried to squeeze everything into our

suitcases. I actually don’t know how we fit it in, but we managed.  Then

we cleaned our bunk rooms and packed up. (The mums cleaned our

bathrooms ) I am very thankful for that!  Then we had more time for

recreational games. Then we ate lunch and then we played that animal

survival game before we ate pasta and got into the bus to go home,

well back to school then home. When we arrived at school I saw my

mum, got out of that bus then gave her a big hug. After that I waited

for my suitcase to come out of the storage in the bus and then I

grabbed it and put it in the back of my car before everybody in my

family went home. 

So that’s my story, my personal experience of my first time in camp,

my first time that I had been away from any of my family members for

3 days. I hope you enjoyed it and that it was very fun for you reading it.

Camp reading create task

This week our create tasks are based on camp because we are going to living springs next week. I am reading Refugee, but we are not going to be reading that until week 3 or 4. Anyway, we just had to do the tasks. For the first create task we had to do a reading maps task on paper which I can not show because it is hard to take photos on chromebooks. 

Then we had to create a bunk room label for our bunks at camp. Now I am on my third create create task doing the pictochart here it is:

Chinese language week!

WALT: USE PERSONAL EXPERIENCE AND LICTRECY KNOWLEDGE TO MAKE MEANINGS FROM TEXTS. 

This week we didn't really have a book choice because we are celebrating Chinese language week! 

We had to read or listen to the different zodiac animals race. For the first create task we had to create a 5 piece comic strip about our favourite scene in the story. For the create task 2 we had to google ( if we didn't know it ) we had to compere it to the Chinese dragon and write 4-5 facts about it. The national animal of Afghanistan is a snow leopard. So down below, if you scroll is the 2 tasks I have completed. For the third create task we had to create a anamograph of the Chinese character for a bull ( or cow )   and we and to do it on paper because it was art and I can not take a photo on my Chromebook. Then I went on google translate because I could not find my name of the link the teachers gave me. I am not sure if it is correct because I do not know Chinese, but if you do please comment and let me know.

last week we did art , and we did a vector drawing! I chose a panda in the forest. It took me about 2-3 days I don't really remember. I really thought about the shades of the face. Take a look and enjoy!

Kupe and the giant wheke

WALT  :Anylase and evaluate the actions and story lines of Maori myths and legends. 

This week I am reading kupe and the giant wheke. I had done my 1st and second create task already so here it is I will try get my 3rd create task done soon. We had to for the first create task evaluate the myth and agree or disagree. I agreed you can see my reasons why below. For the next create task we had to analyse the story. Sorry I can not show you a photo of it but just saying it is there.

How Maui discovered fire

 Hey bloggers! 

Since this week is Te Reo Maori language week we are reading old maori stories that have been passed on for generations and are very old. We had a choice of: How Maui discovered fire, (the one I am reading) the creation of night and day, Rata and the Totara tree, and also kupe and the giant wheke. So far I have finished the create task 1 and 2. We had to analyse the story then we had evaluate the story for if we agreed or disagreed with the statement "maui was right to trick mahukia" I disagreed you can see why below. So here is the drawing of the evaluation sheet. Under that there is a photo of the anylesing sheet.

Here is my screencatify of my create task 3 we had to create an animation of the moari words in the myth, but my book had no moari words except for names and I write who they were. Sorry I couldn't do real animations, but I did the best I could do!

Crepes making

The bubble project

 hey bloggers today me and my sibliings made a cool bubble mixture that apparently could bounce. this was kind of like a science experiment because you kinda had to predict if it actually would bounce. anyway, i thought it wouldn't. but guess what it proved me wrong! at start it didn't really bounce and also there wasn't good bubbles so i added more dishwashing liqud and i guess it kind of improved. maybe me did something wrong. i don't know. if you want to make your own bouncing bubble mixture click on this link!  maybe you could try it and see what happens! if it works maybe you could link your blog in the comments and i will check it out. Down below here is a video of me bouncing the bubbles i tried to do it the first 2 times but them i did it and succeeded in the 3rd!

Haiku poem about lockdown

 Hey guys!

As you know we are at home so I did a haiku poem based on lockdown and being at home . It took me some time because you have to have 5 syllables in the top line then 7 syllables in the second and again 5 on the last line. It was pretty tricky but, I finally got there in the end. 

Did you enjoy? I hope you did!! Maybe you can create you own haiku. Remember, If you do at the start there has to be 5 syllables, in the middle 7 syllables, and again at the end 5 syllables.

This week I reading our first olympians . The Ancient Romans Race Again

This week I was reading The ancient romans race again . This book is about a woman doing chariet racing now over three hundred years later .

Private vs. personal information

 Hello bloggers 

Today we did cybersmart with Mrs clifford and we where learning about private an personal info . Private information is information that you should not share online on the other hand personal information is fine to be shared online . These two things are good to know just in case you don't know about them . Each sides where pretty hard like what side would the names for your bothers and sisters go ? Hmmm . For me it depends because if it was only your first name it would be fine . I rate this task 3/5 .  Please enjoy mine !!
