WALT : use prior knowledge when making text to text connections . this week I am
Reading swallowed by the sea .
The complementary video was a short wizard of oz video It's about a girl ( Dorothy ) who gets
sucked up in a storm she lands on the wicked west of the east
and takes her sparkly pair of magical shoes that are magical.
(However Dorothy doesn't know that .) The kind witch gives her a mission to go to the wizard of oz
while shes on her way to the emerald city she makes a few friends . The tin-man , the scarecrow ,
and last but not least the lion. The challenge text was about a man who fooled a giant .
For my 2nd create task we had to make a poster for what to do in a disaster I made a poster of
what you need to do in a thunderstorm and I also added some tips of what you need to do .

This week we had to pick 6 books to choose from here are the books:astrolabe areef ,paekakariki flood, swallowed by the sea, the hungry wave ,Christchurch earthquake , cyclone tokotoru. Our complementary text was a girl reading a book called quaky cat saves the day . The challenge text was a video about how a earthquake strikes and what different types of earthquakes there are .
My on my other create task we had to create a poster teaching people what to do when a disaster strikes . For my third create task we had to make a news paper .I finished all 3 tasks . Please check it out if you have time !

this week we have been working around numicon and today we had to complete the chillys . I didn't have time to write my solving so i'll just write it here : I counted in 2s and then the answer was 22 but their was 1 hole left so I added it then It equalled 23 .

WALT: evaluate ideas and information in a narrative text
This week I have been reading the longest story . It's about a man who wants to marry Abena but he needs to tell the longest story he comes up with a story telling trick and marry s Abena after all . My complementary text was a video about a myth of why kids always say “it's nothing” when they cry .My challenge text was about a chief who loved stories and wanted to know the longest story in the world that would make him laugh. One day a boy came along and tells him the longest story just like Abenas future husband with a story telling twist . So then he won the competition . My other 2 tasks where the ones up above please check it out if you have time . We had to pretend we were the editor and change the last paragraph . I changed a few words . And the other one we had to pretend we were a police and Interview the main character I picked Abena for the main character others might of disagreed with me but I still think Abena is the main character . This week for the reading create I have been reading the weird zone .It is about a separated family . But now the dad is acting super weird. This book is about the 2 siblings whose dad keeps on acting weirder and weirder .He acts so unusually the siblings ask him whats wrong .... please check out my blog post if you have time! Task 1
Kahurangi’s eyes start to shine.I know he gets what I am saying “yeah a LOT of room he adds joining
in . I see Dad sneak a big grin - the first time he has heard the word without breaking into a deep
sweat . “Are you sure ?” he asks “what about the kids zone ?” “Kahurangi and I were thinking about
changing that , right Kahurangi ? I turn my head to Kahurangi and nod . He looks at me with a
confused face . I wink . Kahurangi adds on “Yep sure we were and we were going to rename it to The
weird zone, a zone where all family members are allowed in” Sounds like i’ll fit right in !”
Dad exclaims“one other thing dad” I add “ don't tell us to tidy up” “got it”says Dad. Some traditions
right?
I changed some of the words into more exciting and interesting sentences and words.
Task 2

1.Q:why didn't you just tell the truth ?
A:because I was embarrassed
2.Q:why didn't you try to put up the tent?
A:If I tried and I couldn't what would I do ?
3.Q:does your tent even have instructions?
A:Um yes but they look too complicated?
4.Q:why didn't you assemble the tent when their mum was there ?
A: I don't know
5.Q:why didn't you ask for help from your children to help set it up ?
A:I already told you …. Um because I was embarrassed .
