3 things I learn't about Christmas cards was:

1.The first recorded use of 'Merry Christmas' was in a Christmas letter sent in 1534.
2.The first recorded Christmas cards were sent in 1611 by a German physician, Michael Maier, to James I of England.
3.In America, Louis Prang, a printer, produced the first commercially available Christmas cards. By 1881, more than 5 million cards were being produced every year in the U.S.

  1. A very Merry Christmas to you too Hannaneh! What a beautiful Christmas card! I did not realise that Christmas cards have a history that extends back to the 16th Century - thank you for sharing your new knowledge! Did you receive Christmas cards this year? Our family like to hang all our Christmas cards in the lounge room on a string above the entrance. Does your family have a display of your Christmas cards? 2. Kia Ora Hannaneh,

It’s Charlotte here, a blog commenter for Manaiakalani. Awesome work on the ‘Seasonal greeting cards kick start’ activity!

Your card is beautiful, I like how you have written a message suitable for anyone - meaning that you could use this card over and over again! Christmas is my favourite holiday because I get to spend it with my family on the beach. What do you do during the Christmas holidays?

I noticed that you included some facts about Christmas cards in your blog post - very cool, I didn’t know any of these prior to reading your blog!
